Homework Page for Math 3, Winter 2003
Additional details about the Math 3 homework policy:
1. PLEASE NOTE: Beginning with next week, homework will
be due two days (not two class days) after it is assigned, except that homework
assigned on Friday will be due on Monday. This is pretty much the same as
the old homework policy, except that homework assigned on Monday is always
due by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, whether or not there is an x-hour on Tuesday,
and homework assigned on Tuesday is due by 5:00 PM on Thursday. (Next week
we do have an x-hour, on Tuesday 2/4, because we do NOT meet on Winter Carnival
Friday, 2/7.) When the homework for next week is posted, we will post due
dates according to this policy.
2. At the end of the term, we will drop the lowest two homework
grades before computing your final average. (So if your car breaks down on
the way back to Hanover in the afternoon, or you go out of town for a game
and can't manage to turn in the homework before you leave, you can figure
that is one of the two homework assignments that won't count.)
3. Each homework assignment is worth 10 points. The first five
points is automatic as long as you have made a reasonable attempt at doing
the problems. The second five points is based on how well you do on the problems.
4. Late homework will be given an automatic 5 points. Homework
not submitted at all will be given 0 points.
5. The deadline for submitting late homework is 5 PM on the
last day of classes, March 7. (However, since part of the point of doing homework
is to learn the material, it is best to complete late homework as soon as
possible. Doing late homework during the last week of classes will not help
prepare you for midterms.)
6. If you have questions about the grading on your homework, please see your instructor.
