Journal

Due to the responses to discussion question 4 from Wednesday's class I have decided to change the journal question. You may write on discussion question 4 or the original journal question or both.

Discussion question 4: Look at the description of the term relative risk and the box on page 6 of the Is Using a Car Phone is Like Drunk Driving article. Discuss what this term should mean and whether you feel the calculation of it presented in the article is legitimate and why.

Original Journal Question: Read carefully the "Is using a car phone like drunk driving" article. Based on the methodology described in the article, do you think the claim that the relative risk is 4.3 (as stated in the abstract of the New England Journal of Medicine Article and subsequent media reports) is likely to be an underestimate or an overestimate of the actual relative risk involved in using a cell phone while driving?
