Africans
      in Space and Time

by Eluemuno Blyden

This is a text about the early history of African populations, which incorporates certain elementary mathematical topics such as population growth and probability. More advanced topics include a consideration of the linguistic tree of Africa and the genetic connection between malaria resistance and sickle cell leukemia. The author is a molecular biologist of African descent whose grandfather founded the first African University in Sierra Leone. The strongly afrocentric tone of the writing gives this volume a flavor that no other calculus text has, and should guarantee it a warm welcome anywhere that diversity issues are a concern in the college.

This text should be available by August 2002.
