In Honor of Laurie Snell's 80th Birthday

Abstract: An open and interactive discussion about the math elements that go into electronic casino games will be hosted by twelve year game designer, Anthony Baerlocher, from the worlds largest slot manufacturer, IGT. The discussion will explore some of the probability and statistical formulas and models used in fixed odds, video poker, and slot machines. The primary focus will be on the artistic creation of volatility, hit frequency, and payout concentrations that differentiate one game from another. And maybe some casino hints...

This talk will be accessible to undergraduates.
