Textbook: John Rice, Mathematical Statistics and Data Analysis.
Weekly topics on the WEB: On Fridays I will put on the WEB topics we discussed in class over the week, in PDF/PS format: Click on Week #1, Week #2, etc. to obtain either PDF (Acrobat  Reader) or PS (Postscript) file. The homework is attached at the end, and you can do it at the space provided.
Exams: There will be two examinations: midterm (one hour, probability) exam and final exam (two hours, statistics). The final exam is scheduled for March 15 (Monday) from 9 to 11 in 103 Bradley.
Homework/exercises: Written homework will be assigned weekly. Assignments will be posted on WEB each Friday due next Wednesday class. The homework with solutions will be posted Wednesday afternoon, so that you can make the analysis. Late papers will be not graded. You are encouraged to get help but copying is prohibited. I strongly recommend to pay special attention to homework: You will discover that problems in all exams will be very similar to what you did at home, so do not leave any homework assignment unfinished or not well understood.
Project: Everybody will be involved in our team project, with the presentation to be held March 8.
Grades: The course grade will be based on the following four achievements:
Homework                 35%
Mid-term exam          20%
Team Project              20%
Final exam                  25%
Tutorials and assistance: I promise to provide any assistance or help for students who wants them. Please, call me to set up an appointment or stop by my office. Usually I can talk right after our class.
