Nonlinear Statistical Estimation Theory and Analytic Continuation:
Brutal Reality or Unrealistic Counterexamples?
Abstract. In this talk we will introduce discrete analogues of
the continuous uncertainty principle, which generate the discrete analogue to the analytic continuation problem. We will then analyse the stability of the corresponding estimation problems from the point of view of (a) linear estimation theory, (b) non-linear minimax estimation theory, and (c) non-linear estimation theory via monte carlo simulation. This analysis will be used primarily for the solution of the limited angle tomography problem.
Tea. High tea will be served at 3:30pm in the Lounge.
Emmy's. Certain refreshments will be available at the Emmy's after the talk.
