The problems and solutions posted here (courtesy of Dana Williams) are meant to support your study of the material.
For every set, a subset will be specified, to be turned in by the given date and graded.
Please follow these guidelines for the submission.
Extensions may be granted only if requested in advance.

Homework 1

  • till Friday 9/14: do Problem 1,2 and 3. These problems will have to be submitted at a later date.
  • till Monday 9/17: do Problem 4 and 5. You will only have to submit Problem 5 at a later date.
  • till Wednesday 9/19: do Problem 6a) and 7. From Wilkins: The extended real number line, read pages 1-5.
  • till Friday 9/21: submit HW 1, Problem 1,2,3,5, 6a) and 7.

Homework 2

  • till Wednesday 9/26: do Problem 1. This problem will have to be submitted at a later date.
  • till Monday 10/01: do Problem 2,3. You will only have to submit Problem 3 at a later date.
  • till Friday 10/05: do Problem 4,5. You will only have to submit Problem 5a) at a later date.
  • till Monday 10/08: do Problem 6,7. You will only have to submit Problem 6 and 7a),b) on Wednesday.
  • till Wednesday 10/10: submit HW 2, Problem 1,3, 5a),6 and 7a),b).

Homework 3

  • till Wednesday 10/15: do Problem 1,2. These problems will have to be submitted at a later date.
  • till Friday 10/19: do Problem 3.
  • till Monday 10/22: do Problem 4,5. These problems will have to be submitted on Wednesday.
  • till Wednesday 10/24: submit HW 3, Problem 1,2,4,5.

Homework 4

  • till Wednesday 10/31: do Problem 1-5. You will only have to submit Problem 3 and 4 at a later date.
  • till Monday 11/5: do Problem 6-10. You will only have to submit Problem 6,7 and 8 at a later date.
  • till Wednesday 11/7: submit HW 4, Problem 3,4,6,7,8.

Homework 5

  • till Wednesday 11/07: do Problem 1,2 and Rudin, pp 227-230 1,2,4. You will only have to submit Problem 2 and Rudin #4 at a later date.
  • till Tuesday 11/13: do the remaining problems except for Rudin, pp 227-230 13. You will have to submit
    Rudin #3 and Problem 4. For the latter you may assume the Argument principle from Beck: A first course in complex analysis, Th. 9.17.
  • till Wednesday 11/14: submit HW 5, Problem 2,4, Rudin #3, #4.
