Homework Policy

• Homework sets will be assigned for each class and are due at noon on the day of the second class period after the class when the homework was assigned. You can check the exact due dates on the Homework Assignments web page.
• This year all homework assignments will be submitted via the web using WeBWorK. If you preregistered for the course, you should have a WeBWorK account by the first day of classes. If you do not receive an e-mail assigning you a login name and password for WeBWorK by then, please contact your instructor as soon as possible.
• In addition to WeBWorK, problems from the book will be listed on the Homework Assignments web page for some classes. Please do not hand in solutions to these problems. Their sole purpose is to help you prepare for the exams. Although these practice problems will not be graded, neglecting them can degrade your exam performance.
• Please note that WeBWorK will not record solutions of the assignments past the closing date. Typically, assignments for Monday lectures will close at noon next Friday, assignments for Wednesday lectures (and any x-hour lectures) will close at noon next Monday and assignments for Friday lectures will close at noon next Wednesday. There will be appropriate adjustments for holidays.

The homework scores not only count count towards your final grade and allow you to practice and refine your skills but, historically, those students who do the homework sets regularly fair better on the exams.

Grades

The course grade will be based upon the scores on the two midterm exams, the final exam, and the homework.

Midterm 1	100 points

Final Exam	150 points
WeBWorK	50 points
Total	400 points

The Honor Principle

• On Exams: No help given or received.

• On Homework: Collaboration is permitted and encouraged, but NO COPYING.   Discussions of the general ideas of the class with instructors, tutors, fellow students and others are desirable. However, each student is expected to complete his or her assignments individually and independently.

Tutorials

Tutorial assistance for this course, that is, help with your homework, will be available in 105 Bradley Hall on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 7–9PM. Tutorials will begin on Sunday, September 26.

Also note that the Tutor Clearinghouse will have private one-on-one tutors available for Math 13. The tutors are recruited on the basis that they have done well in the subject, and are trained by the Academic Skills Center. If a student receives financial aid, the College will pay for three hours of tutoring per week. If you would like to have a tutor, please go to 301 Collis and fill out an application as early in the term as possible.

Disabilities

Students with disabilities who will be taking this course and may need disability-related classroom accommodations are encouraged to make an appointment to see their instructor as soon as possible. Also, they should stop by the Academic Skills Center in Collis Center to register for support services.
