Exams |
---|
There will be two midterm exams and a final.
Date | Time | Room | |
---|---|---|---|
Exam 1 | Tuesday, April 28 | 5:00 - 7:00 | Kemeny 008 |
Exam 2 | Thursday, May 14 | 5:00 - 7:00 | Kemeny 008 |
Final Exam | Sunday, June 07 | 3:00 - 6:00 | Kemeny 008 |
Homework |
---|
The homework will have two components: daily webwork homework and written weekly homework. Collaboration on the written homework is permitted (encouraged, in fact!), but all homework must be written up independently.
In the homework (and the exams!), marks will be awarded for correct working, logical setting out, appropriate explanations and presentation -- and not just the final answer. The aim of this is to develop your ability to present your mathematics in a professional way. So pay attention to neatness, grammar, clarity of argument, use of notation and so forth. (This will develop your technical writing skills immensely.)

Grades will be depend on:
Points | |
---|---|
Written homework | 25 |

Tutorials |

The graduate TA, Elizabeth Gillaspy, will run tutorial sessions in Kemeny 008, on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Tutorials will begin on Tuesday, March 31.
The Tutor Clearinghouse will organize study groups for this course, and private one-on-one tutors are also sometimes available for Math 13. The tutors and study-group leaders are recruited on the basis that they have done well in the subject, and are trained by the Academic Skills Center. If you would like to have a tutor or sign up with a study group, please go to Collis 301 and fill out an application as early in the term as possible.
Disabilities |
---|
Students with disabilities who will be taking this course and may need disability-related classroom accommodations are encouraged to make an appointment to see their instructor as soon as possible. Also, they should stop by the Academic Skills Center in Collis Center to register for support services.
Religious Obligations |
---|
Students who have conflicts with the course or exam schedule due to religious observances should make arrangements with the instructor as soon as possible (before the end of the second week).
