Textbook: “Vector Calculus” by Jerrold E Marsden and Anthony J. Tromba, fifth edition, published by W. H. Freeman and Company, available at Wheelock Books
ORC Course description: Sections of Mathematics 13 for students who have done satisfactory work in Mathematics 9 or exceptional work in Mathematics 8. ORC Course description for Math 13 This course is a sequel to Mathematics 8 and provides an introduction to calculus of vector-valued functions. Topics include differentiation and integration of parametrically defined functions with interpretations of velocity, acceleration, arclength and curvature. Other topics include iterated, double, triple and surface integrals including change of coordinates. The remainder of the course is devoted to vector fields, line integrals, Green’s theorem, curl and divergence, and Stokes’ theorem.
Prerequisite: Mathematics 8.

Course Grade will be based upon the scores for Written Homework, WeBWorK homework, two Projects, two Midterm Exams, and the Final Exam as follows:

Exams: There will be two in-class "midterm examinations" and an in-class final examination. These will not be during the regular class times.
Do not make plans to leave Hanover before the end of the final exam week. The exams will not be given earlier to accommodate your travel plans. The exams are scheduled as follows:

Both the Written Homework and the WeBWorK homework: will be assigned after each lecture. It will generally be due on Wednesday of the week following the week when it was assigned. The Written homework and the due dates can be found here. The WeBWorK assignment can be found here
Late homework will not be accepted. If you feel there is a very legitimate reason for your homework to be late you should discuss this with the Instructor in advance. Unexcused and missing papers count zero.
There will be two homework projects: The first Homework project will be distributed on Wednesday January 19 and it will be due on Wednesday January 26. The Second Homework Project will be distributed on Wednesday January 9 and it will be due on Wednesday January 16.

· On Exams: No help given or received.
· On Written Homework and WeBWorK Homework: Collaboration on homework is allowed and encouraged but no copying!
· On Homework projects: the rules will be announced when the projects are distributed.
· In general: when in doubt ask before doing.
