Textbook Companion Site
There is a student companion site for our textbook with reviews, quizzes, Mathematica and other files.
Mathematica
Mathematica Files
Wolfram Mathematica is a computer algebra system used in many scientific, engineering, mathematical, and computing fields. Mathematica is particularly well-suited to computations involving calculus and differential equations. Dartmouth has a site license for Mathematica: you can download it (for free!) here.
Here are some useful links for learning and using Mathematica:
- The download link above also has links to various Mathematica tutorials.
- Wolfram's own site has many useful resources.
- On Wolfram's Demonstrations Project you can find many demos illustrating concepts from differential equations.
- You can browse a large collection of Mathematica-related questions and answers at Mathematica Stack Exchange. You can also ask questions of your own.
MATLAB
MATLAB Files
MATLAB (a contraction of "matrix laboratory") is a computing environment and programming language developed by MathWorks. Dartmouth has a site license for MATLAB: you can download it (for free!) here.
Maple
Maple Files
Maple is a symbolic computing environment and programming language developed by Maplesoft. Dartmouth has a site license for Maple: you can download it (for free!) here.
