Homework & Examinations

• Problems from the text will be assigned weekly. They will be assigned on Friday and due the following Friday (except during the Thanksgiving break). For more details, see Syllabus and Homework Assignments.


• There will be one take-home midterm examination handed out on Friday, October 23. The final will also be a take-home exam.

The Honor Principle

• On Exams: No help given or received.
  

• On Homework: Students are encouraged to work together to do homework problems and to seek help if needed. What is important is the eventual understanding of homework problems, and not how that is achieved. What a student turns in as a homework solution is to be his or her own understanding of how to solve the problem. Students should state what sources they have consulted, with whom they have collaborated and from whom they have received help. Students are not to use solutions to problems that are posted on the web. The solutions that a student submits must be written by him or her alone. Any copying of another person's solutions, in whole or in part, is a violation of the Honor Code.
