My favorite professor at Dartmouth so far. Makes the class enjoying and leaves me with no confusion. Very clear lectures. (Linear Algebra, Spring 19, Dartmouth)

Cares so much and is really nice! Also knows the material incredibly well. (Linear Algebra, Spring 19, Dartmouth)

He was very approachable and created a very comfortable and safe class environment. I was never scared or ashamed to ask questions. (Calculus II, Winter 19, Dartmouth)

He made coming to class very rewarding - everything was clearly explained and he was very approachable. It is obvious that he wants everyone to succeed. (Abstract Algebra, Fall 18, Dartmouth)

First math course (out of 7) I have taken where the instructor made the material easier to digest then the textbook. (Abstract Algebra, Fall 18, Dartmouth)

Professor Muetzel is an excellent professor and really wants you to do well in his class. Take it with him!
(Calculus II, Spring 18, Dartmouth)

He taught the material efficiently and comprehensively, was very accomodating and always willing to answer questions outside of class. One of my most positive experiences at Dartmouth! (Calculus II, Spring 18, Dartmouth)

Professor Muetzel is the best math professor I've had at Dartmouth. He put in so much time and energy into preparing his lectures and even gave us lecture notes. I am so thankful for his dedication and devotion to our learning and this is the type of dedication I was envisioning when I came to Dartmouth. (Real Analysis, Winter 18, Dartmouth)

Bjoern was the best professor I've had at Dartmouth. He obviously took large amounts of time outside of class to give better lectures. His notes were clear. His disposition was interactive, engaging and fun.
(Real Analysis, Winter 18, Dartmouth)

Very passionate and really approachable. (Abstract Algebra, Fall 17, Dartmouth)

Very good job at going around an making sure individuals understood the course material. Fun review sessions with prizes! Lectures were very well organized - I appreciated the "last time" section at the beginning of class and the examples that we worked on together during class. (Calculus II, Spring 17, Dartmouth)

Professor Muetzel was very good about being available outside of the classroom for office hours. And both in office hours, and in the classroom, he created a space where I felt comfortable sharing my ideas and asking questions. (Calculus II, Spring 17, Dartmouth)

Great sense of humor. (Calculus III, Winter 17, Dartmouth)

Professor Muetzel knew everyone's name and had fun ways of getting students to participate in "practice exams". He did a good job making sure students understood the material by walking around the classroom and checking in on us while we were working on problems. (Calculus III, Winter 17, Dartmouth)

Professor Muetzel embodies the best characteristics of Dartmouth's math department. He is available for consultation (even if it cuts his lunch), he is a fair grader and emphasizes learning rather than "correctness" and it is obvious that he cares about teaching and takes his job seriously. Even for a fairly dull course like Abstract Algebra he makes the material very interesting and engaging. (Abstract Algebra, Fall 16, Dartmouth)

Professor Muetzel was by far the best math professor I've ever had at Dartmouth. You can tell that he definitely cares about teaching rather than just seeing it a burden that detracts from his research time. He creates an atmosphere where questions are encouraged, he walks around the class to make sure individual students understand what is going on, he will put in significant time outside of class to help you, and he is generally very responsive to student needs. If Dartmouth wants to maintain its reputation for excellent teaching, it should put him on the tenure track (assuming his research is good enough). (Abstract Algebra, Fall 16, Dartmouth)

A genuinely nice person who cares about his students. (Linear Algebra, Spring 16, Dartmouth)

Professor Muetzel was awesome. He was a great lecturer and taught all the material extremely well and was extremely approachable and helpful outside of class. Also he got to know every single student very personally very quickly. And when we were doing the practice problems he would approach everyone and give them one on one attention. He is one of the best teachers that I have had at Dartmouth. (Linear Algebra, Spring 16, Dartmouth)
