Access to MyFiles/DartFiles from Linux

Most of Linux file managers (Dolphin, Konqueror, Nautilus, Thunar etc.) will work with network locations as well. Dartmouth's network-based storage service MyFiles (faculty and staff; DartFiles for students) can be accessed from Linux using:

     smb://myfiles.dartmouth.edu/<sharename>/<NetID>

For example:

     smb://myfiles.dartmouth.edu/Kemeny/d12345e
     smb://dartfiles.dartmouth.edu/Smith/d23456x

If you already have your MyFiles account enabled, then your assigned <sharename> is included in your profile on Dartmouth Directory Manager. You may also have received an email from Computing Services with <sharename> and login instructions.

IMPORTANT: While authenticating from Linux use

     KIEWIT\<NetID>

as a username instead of just NetID.
