Journal #8: Assuming that the Gallup group uses what essentially amounts to a binomial distribution when it analyzes it's data, do you think that its estimates are accurate? Why and/or why not?

Problem: Assume that you have a coin that has a .4 probability of landing heads-up. Write down all possible lists of outcomes that can arise from flipping the coin four times. Calculate the probability of each outcome. Make a probability histogram for the number of heads that can appear.

Journal #9: (See the handout from class) Using our notion of examining a streak, how might you explore the chances of a pitcher throwing a perfect game (i.e. no opponent ever gets on base during a nine-inning game)? Analyze the assumptions arising in your model. For a very good journal: look at your model using the streak simulation described at the computation page of the Chance website. (See Greg with any questions about how to use the streak simulation.) Please type your journal.
