FACTORS RELATED
TO WAGES

IN THE CURRENT POPULATION SURVEY

By Gary Engelhardt and Therese Stukel

This monograph explores the statistics of a random sample of 534 persons from the 1995 Current Population Survey (CPS) with information on wages and other characteristics of the workers, such as gender, years of education, years of work experience, occupational status, and region of residence. It is an ideal dataset for in depth teaching of basic principles of multiple regression. It can be used to understand how wages are related to these characteristics.
